Wedding Bands for Her

A symbol of love and timeless devotion, your wedding ring will surely be one of your most cherished possessions. It’s important to know what you want in terms of style, but beyond that, it’s important to know what will be best in the long term. And if you can’t find the perfect ring in a jewelry store, we can create the perfect one for you.

We carry women's wedding bands in yellow, white, and rose gold - and even some with mixed metals! Whether you want a classic, plain band, or one with some sparkle, we can make it happen.

Wedding Bands for Him

Wedding bands for men often get treated as an afterthought, but we hope you aren’t thinking that way. Since many men tend not to wear a lot of jewelry, a wedding ring is the one piece that will be worn most. So why not make it special? After all of these years of the standard gold band, it might be time to consider some new design options.

At Carats and Stones, we’re excited to see that men’s wedding rings are getting a lot more interesting. Whether you choose a ring that’s understated and classic or more unique and eye-catching, there are endless ways to personalize the band for him.

If you’re looking for a men’s wedding ring with a bit of flair, consider the variety of metals available. When choosing a material, it's important to think long term - some cannot be sized.

Eternity rings

Eternity rings can symbolize everlasting love, making them a classic wedding band style. This design has stones that go all the way around the ring. This style is a good choice for someone who wants something more understated or who would prefer a diamond band instead of an elevated stone for lifestyle reasons. The photo below features our "Infinite Bliss" band, which can be designed in white, yellow, or rose gold.

Settings

The setting is all about your personal style and taste

Prong Settings are the Most Popular for Diamond Rings

There are several choices .. 2 prongs, 3 prongs, 4 prongs, and 6 prongs. Whichever you choose, one of the main goals of a prong setting is to minimize the amount of metal surrounding the stone to allow for maximum light exposure.

Prong settings vary based on the shape of the diamond. Four or six prong settings are often used with round brilliant diamonds, as this type of setting boosts the diamond upward. Raised up and unhindered by a lot of metal, a diamond in this type of setting can disperse light more easily, creating the flash and display of rainbow colors that make a diamond so uniquely beautiful.

The Elegant Bezel Setting

The biggest difference between the bezel and prong setting is that the bezel setting creates a rim, or collar, around the diamond. Although it might seem to block more light, if crafted properly, the setting will not cover the table of the diamond, which is where most light enters. This setting is great for those who appreciate simplicity. Below is a photo of a custom ring we made for a client, with an emerald cut diamond bezel set in yellow gold.

The Halo Setting

This type of setting secures the ring’s center stone underneath a rim adorned with pavé, invisible-set or channel-set diamonds. Popular with celebrities, the halo setting creates a spectacular diamond look that is feminine and delicate. Halo settings can be round or squared off on the sides. A unique example of a halo setting is seen below, with our "Ophelie" ring. Alternating diamonds and emeralds bring out the green tones in this cabochon opal.

Pavé Setting

Literally “paving” a ring’s surface with tiny diamonds, a pavé ring sparkles but still allows the design to be subtle. Typically, this style avoids large diamonds that some women may see as gaudy. The technique of creating a pavé setting involves creating tiny beads or prongs from the surrounding metal to hold the diamonds in place. Below is our "Eleanor" pavé ring, featuring 55 round diamonds.

Channel Setting

A channel setting in a ring features a row of side by side diamonds, suspended by individual seats cut into each side of the channels. This setting is often used in wedding band designs or for side stones accenting the center diamond of an engagement ring. This photo is from a custom ring we designed for a client, with channel set diamonds.

Invisible or Floating Setting

This setting arranges princess-cut, or square diamonds set side by side to appear as an all-diamond surface. Invisible-set diamonds have special channels cut into them, allowing them to be set from underneath. In this type of setting the diamonds are typically set flush to the metal surrounding them, giving the illusion that nothing is holding them together. This is our "Beatrice" ring, a nice statement band. Almost 4 carats of diamonds are invisibly set to create a unique sparkle.

Less Traditional Wedding Ring Gemstones

Sapphire

Sapphires are among the most highly prized gemstones, offering an almost limitless array of options in color, size, and shape. As these enduring gems have long symbolized loyalty, sapphires are increasingly becoming valued as a modern engagement or wedding ring option. These stones are a 9 on the Mohs scale - making them a perfect everyday alternative to diamonds.

Sapphires are also associated with the 5th Anniversary (and are the birthstone of September), making them a perfect gift for those nearing 5 years. The ring featured below is our "Caroline" sapphire and diamond ring.

Emerald

Ranging in color from bluish-green to greenish-blue with a clear depth of color that few gems command, emeralds are also the most well-known and highly prized of green gemstones. Whether pear, teardrop, oval, or round in shape, its cut is an important feature because it will determine how intensely the light will be reflected off the stone’s edges. Unfortunately, emeralds are a 7-8.5 on the Mohs scale, making them a bit too soft for everyday wear. This just means they can be saved for special occasions - or even just when they go perfectly with your outfit.

These stones are perfect gifts for that special someone. Emeralds are associated with the 20th and 35th anniversary, and they are the birthstone for May. This ring is our "Cleopatra" ring - a stunning piece with over 2 carats of emeralds!

Ruby

Celebrated in the Bible and in ancient Sanskrit writings as the most precious of all gemstones, rubies have been the prized possession of emperors and kings throughout the ages. No red gemstone can compare to its fiery, rich hues, and many people associate its brilliant crimson colors with passion and love, making a ruby an ideal choice for an engagement ring or wedding ring.

Thankfully, rubies score a 9 on the Mohs scale - making them perfect for everyday wear! Rubies are associated with the 15th and 40th anniversary, as well as being the birthstone of July and Friday. This is our "Rosaline" ring, a beautiful combination of rose gold, diamonds, and rubies.
