- To prevent scratches, store each piece of jewelry in its own compartment or bag.

- When traveling, pack your jewelry in a small traveling case with hard sides to prevent crushing.

- Pearls and opals require moisture from the air, so they should never be kept in a very dry environment - such as a safe deposit box.
